Jet ski remapping: the custom engine map for your personal watercraft

Select the brand of your jet ski to be remapped

On the water, every detail matters: acceleration, how quickly you get on plane, and high-RPM performance over long straight lines. Yet your jet ski leaves the factory with a deliberately restricted engine map. This is exactly what jet ski remapping is designed to correct.

By rewriting the original map of your jet ski’s ECU (Engine Control Unit), our technicians unlock the horsepower your engine can truly deliver, optimize throttle response, and adapt the performance to your actual usage. Whether you ride a Sea-Doo, a Kawasaki, or a Lynx, RS-Tronic develops a specific engine map for your model in one of our 90 centres in France, backed by 14 years of expertise in jet ski remapping.

Why your jet ski is factory-restricted.

A manufacturer does not build a jet ski for a single market. The same personal watercraft is sold in France, the United States, Southeast Asia, or the Middle East, where fuel quality varies, temperatures can exceed 45°C, and average maintenance standards differ greatly. To ensure the engine can handle all these conditions, the factory engine map must be calibrated for the worst possible scenario.
For you, as a French rider, this means:

  • Deliberately reduced ignition timin
  • A lean air-fuel mixture at certain RPM rang
  • Premature electronic limitations on supercharged models
  • Atop speed limited well below the engine’s actual capabilities

Remapping your jet ski means intelligently using these margins while never exceeding the manufacturer’s mechanical limits.

Understanding your personal watercraft’s ECU

The ECU is the electronic brain of your jet ski. It controls fuel injection, ignition, and, on supercharged models, compressor pressure in real time. Depending on the age and model of your personal watercraft, it can take two different forms.

ECU or CDI: two types of control units

On recent jet skis, we refer to the ECU (Engine Control Unit). It is a complete, fully programmable control unit that manages dozens of engine parameters in real time. It is fitted to almost all modern Sea-Doo, Kawasaki, and Lynx models.

On older jet skis, you may find a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition). This is a simpler system that mainly controls ignition. It offers fewer adjustment options than an ECU but can still be optimized with a targeted approach.

In both cases, our intervention consists of reading the original engine map, adjusting it, and then reinstalling it into the control unit. The method is adapted to the type of equipment installed on your machine.

Our jet ski remapping services

RS-Tronic offers four distinct interventions that can also be combined, depending on your goal. Here's what each one concretely delivers.

Stage 1: custom software optimization

Stage 1 is the most requested intervention. Fully software-based, it modifies the ECU's mapping without any mechanical disassembly. We read and save your original file, then install a mapping developed specifically for your model and serial number. You gain power, torque, and responsiveness, and where the model allows it, we also raise the electronic limiters that cap top speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

A jet ski remapping starts from €490 at RS-Tronic. The price depends on your model and the selected services (Stage 1, E85 conversion, E85+ Stage)

Professional engine remapping does not weaken your engine, provided that the manufacturer’s tolerances are strictly respected. Our engine maps are developed within the safety margins defined by the original engineers. We never aim for the maximum mechanical output possible; we aim for the best performance that can be used reliably over the long term.

No. E85 compatibility depends on the injection system, the materials used in the fuel system, and the age of the jet ski. Some recent Sea-Doo and Kawasaki models are eligible, while others are not.

For a new jet ski or one with less than 50 hours of use, no. For a personal watercraft with more than 200 hours or showing signs of carbon buildup (difficult starts, smoke, loss of power), yes, we recommend it. This ensures that the new engine map is applied to an engine in the best possible mechanical condition.

Yes. We systematically save the original engine map. Returning to the factory settings is possible at any time, especially for resale or a visit to a dealership.
